Hydrogels were used as a carrier to encapsulate phosphate and added to cement paste to manufacture self healing cementitious material. Hydroxyapatite type minerals were formed and healed the cracks through the reaction between phosphate released from hydrogels and Ca2+ from the paste. The self healing efficiency was evaluated by the water permeability test and chloride ion penetration test. The results show that the hydrogels successfully preserves the phosphate in the paste and the self healing agent produces dense hydroxyapatite on the specimen in the simulated pore solution. The self healing efficiency is more than 60% on the chloride penetration and 50%100% on the water permeability. The self healing products is carbonated and calcium deficient hydroxyapatite(CCDHA).
