Abstract:Self healing sustained release microcapsule of ethyl cellulose containing epoxy resin had been prepared by solvent evaporation method. The effect of core wall ratio and temperature on surface morphology of microcapsule and the effect of rotation speed and emulsifier mass fraction on particle size distribution of microcapsule were investigated. Surface property and chemical structure of microcapsule were characterized by environmental scanning electron microscope(ESEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer spectrometer(FTIR), and sustained release property was tested by ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometry(UV VIS). The results show that when the core wall ratio is 1∶1, temperature is 30℃, mass fraction of emulsifier gelatin solution is 5% and rotation speed is 800r/min, the prepared epoxy resin/ethyl cellulose microcapsule has a round shape and a large number of pores on the surface. Meanwhile, there is a narrow particle size distribution which is mainly about 75150μm. The epoxy resin/ethyl cellulose microcapsule has good sustained release property. The added value of absorbance increases with increasing time in 01h, 12h and 23h period, but decreases in 34h period. The reason is that the increasing dose of core material dissolved slows the dissolution rate.
