Abstract:To investigate the effects of ionic polymer ethylene methacrylate(EMAA) and SBS on the pavement performance and self healing property of asphalt and asphalt mixture, dynamic shear rheometer(DSR)and bending beam rheometer(BBR)tests were conducted for evaluating the pavement performance of EMAA/SBS compound modified asphalt. And then, the ductile and DSR tests before and after self healing were conducted to assess the self healing property of EMAA/SBS modified asphalt. The results show that compared with base and SBS modified asphalt and its asphalt mixture, the high temperature stability, the durability and self healing property of compound modified asphalt and its mixture are increased significantly. The low temperature crack resistance of compound modified asphalt and its mixture is slightly inferior to SBS modified asphalt and its mixture, but still can meet the required specification.
