Abstract:In order to improve the bond strength between copper plated steel fibers and cement motar and enhance the corrosion resistance of fibers, the fibers were treated with silane coupling agents 3 methacryloxy propyl trimethoxy silane(MPS) and 3 mercapto propyl trimethoxy silane(MPTS),and the fibers were tested with infrared spectrum, scanning electron microscope(SEM), corrosion in NaCl solution and single fiber pull out experiments. The results indicate that the MPTS is chemically bonded to the fibers; the surface roughness of the fibers treated with coupling agents is greatly improved; the integration of absorbance of the NaCl solutions in which MPS fibers and MPTS/MPS fibers are soaked is only 91% and 45% of that of the untreated fibers; the treatment of the agents greatly enhances the energy demanded for MPS fibers and MPTS/MPS fibers to be pulled out of the cement mortar with an increase of 43% and 224% respectively in comparison with the untreated fibers, as well as enhances the bond strength between fibers and cement mortar.
