Abstract:The effects of different adhesive types on the bonding property and the finger joint distribution between adjacent laminates on the flexural behavior of glulam using Chinese larch and Japanese larch wood were studied. The four adhesives including one component polyurethane adhesive(PUR), type A two component isocyanate adhesive(MDI A), type B two component isocyanate adhesive(MDI B) and two component phenol resorcinol formaldehyde(PRF) were respectively applied and the finger joint distributions between adjacent laminates with 0, 50, 150, 300mm or 50mm only in lower two laminates were designed. The resin layer shear test, the resin layer peeling test and the full scale bending test were conducted according to standards. The results show that the bonding performance of PRF is better than other adhesives and the failure probability of the finger joint is lowest in the bending test when the finger joint distribution is 300mm.
