A simplified column test procedure was proposed and the mortar segregation percent(MSP) of the concrete was chosen to characterize the static stability of self compacting concrete(SCC). The evaluation index was established through the test results of the normal column test. Results show that column test could be simplified by collecting the top and bottom mortar of the equipment instead of the process of washing and wiping up the coarse aggregates. A linear correlation was found between MSP and static segregation percent. When MSP is smaller than 12.8%, SCC would have better static stability.
