Abstract:Experimental evaluation of pavement performance of reclaimed rubber plastic modified asphalt(RPMA) and its mixture with RPMA was performed. RPMA was prepared with self developed reclaimed rubber plastic agent and then its technical properties were tested by penetration grade and SHRP PG grade methods. Besides, AC 13 type asphalt mixture, which was commonly used for surface layer of asphalt pavement in China, was chosen for RPMA mixture design and its technical properties were tested in the lab. Furthermore, technical properties of other two kinds of commercial asphalt binder commonly used in Shandong province, China, which were rubber modified asphalt and SBS modified asphalt, were tested and compared with RPMA. Results show that RMPA exhibits best high temperature performance and moisture stability, moderate low temperature performance, and slightly lower fatigue performance compared with rubber modified asphalt and SBS modified asphalt. Research shows the potential on asphalt modification compound with reclaimed rubber and reclaimed plastic to enhance pavement performance of asphalt and asphalt mixture.
