Abstract:Through a series of tests, the influence of double layer paving and the traditional single layer paving on asphalt mixtures bending fatigue performance was investigated. Test result shows that the technique of double layer paving can pave and roll the lower layer and top layer asphalt mixtures at the same time. The technique of double layer paving can improve the asphalt bonding between the two layers and form an integrated road surface, the dividing line between the layers becomes fuzzy. And the technique of double layer paving reduces the temperature lowering effectively, gives a good compaction of asphalt layers, and makes the forming of a whole complex pavement structure layer. It is these characteristics that make the technique of double layer paving improve the anti fatigue performance of asphalt mixtures. In the case of double layer paver, the small beam flexural strength, flexural tensile strain, stiffness modulus can be increased by 283%, 254% and 22% respectively compared with that for the traditional single paving.
