Abstract:Based on axial compression test results, the effects of volumetric ratio of stirrup, stirrup yield strength and ordinary concrete compressive strength on the compressive behavior of stirrup confined concrete were analyzed. The issue of using confining reinforcement characteristic values to suggest stress strain model directly was discussed, the equations for calculating the peak stress, peak strain and the ultimate strain were proposed. A simplified stress strain model was developed after summarizing and analyzing the rationality and fault of former typical model. Comparison between calculated results and experimental curves reveals that the proposed analytical model could well predict stress strain curves of high strength stirrup confined concretes.
