Abstract:Wedge splitting tests on six concrete specimens fabricated with fine grain concrete were carried out. After the initial splitting test, the cracked prisms were repaired with epoxy resin and split again. Based on the test results, the fracture energy, double K fracture parameters and failure interface of prototype specimens and repaired specimens were analyzed and contrasted. The results indicate that the failure interface of repaired specimens does not occur in the bonding area and the fracture capability and carrying capacity of the repaired specimens are remarkably improved. It has been shown that epoxy injection is an adequate method for repairing concrete cracks. It is recommended that the initial fracture toughness be used in the evaluation of the effect of epoxy injection technique. The results prove that the epoxy injection technique can be applied in repairing concrete.
