Abstract:The physical and mechanical properties of asphalt mixture produced with waste concrete aggregates(RCA) were investigated and test results presented. RCA was treated by using three methods: namely 1) washed by water cannon (WJ treated), 2) cleaned by using 0.5%(by mass) H2SO4 and then using Ca(OH)2 solution with using ultrasonic (SJ treated), 3) cleaned by water cannon then wrapped with cement paste of mw/mc 0.5 (CJ treated). The micro structures of the surface of RCA after treated were observed and analyzed by using XRD and SEM. The interface of RCA asphalt was also observed and analyzed by FTIR. The research results show that there is chemisorption in the interface between RCA and asphalt with the three surface treated methods, and the chemisorption effect is the strongest for SJ treatment. Test results also show that the mechanical properties of asphalt mixture produced with RCA after SJ treatment is much better than that after WJ and CJ treatment.
