Abstract:Experimental studies cover the tension, compressive and bending tests of expanded polystyrene(EPS) foam material that was used to constitute EPS decorative line component. The basic parameters of mechanics were thereby obtained. Based on these parameters, the nonlinear finite element methods were adopted to analyze the EPS decorative line component. The ultimate carrying capability of the component obtained by the numerical simulation was quite identical with that obtained by the experimental method. Therefore, it is reasonable to analyze the mechanics performance of EPS decorative line component by the numerical simulation with experimental material parameter instead of physical prototype test.
