Penetration index(PI), pen vis numbers(PVN) and complex modulus index(GTS) were used to assess the temperature sensitivity of base asphalt, SBS modified asphalt and crumb rubber modified asphalt(CRMA) to determine whether these indicators were suitable for the CRMA. The experiment results show that PI and PVN have limitations to evaluate the temperature sensitivity of crumb rubber modified asphalts. On the contrary, results from GTS are found to be more reasonable though this method still has some shortcoming. Based on the analysis of different evaluation methods, complex number index(CNI) is proposed to evaluate temperature susceptibility of CRMA.
