Abstract:With the most advanced accelerated loading equipment MMLS3, high temperature test of four kinds of asphalt mixtures usually used as surface or middle course of roads were carried out to obtain guidance for their application. The test result shows that the improvement order of high temperature stability performance is SMA 13, AC 13C, OGFC and AC 20C. Because of the large void structure which weakens its strength, shear performance and durability to a certain extent, OGFC is not suggested to be used as surface of highway with heavy traffic.The middle course of roads in the area involving high temperature and overloading or overruning needs an optimization design. When evaluating asphalt mixtures with small void discrepancy, the MMLS test and the routine DS have quite consistent results, and contrarily it is necessary to choose suitable method for evaluating mixtures high temperature stability.
