The principle of material failure process analysis(MFPA) code to simulate dynamic failure of concrete are briefly summarized.MFPA code was used to simulate the failure process of concrete under static and dynamic loading,and the different spalling patterns of concrete under dynamic stress waves with different amplitudes and different durations were captured and the(associated) mechanisms were clarified.The numerical simulations indicate that the failure process of concrete under dynamic loading is controlled by the stress wave propagation as well as its induced damage,and the heterogeneity is one of factors that leads to the increase of dynamic strength of concrete.
