Abstract:Using raveling test and Cantanbro stripping test, influences of mix proportion of coarse aggregate, fine aggregate and binder as well as the different voids on characteristics of abrasion and stripping resistance of drainage asphalt mixtures were studied.Experimental results show that content of coarse aggregate, which varies from 78% to 86%(by mass),and content of fine aggregate, which varies from 9% to 17%(by mass),have little influences on abrasion and stripping of drainage asphalt mixtures. However, content of binder when they varies from 4% to 6%(by mass) has significant influences on abrasion and stripping of drainage asphalt mixtures,i.e.,with increasing contents of binder, properties of abrasion and stripping are improved.Besides, the influence trend of voids on abrasion and stripping is also evident although data are relatively scattered. Therefore,in order to ensure good performances of drainage asphalt pavements, once the aggregate and gradation, binder types for use in engineering have been determined, controlling contents of binder and reasonable voids become very important.
