Abstract:CFRP strands exhibit high tensile strength, good anticorrosion, higher elastic modulus, light weight, thermal expansion coefficient close to that of concrete and grout, etc. A wedge anchorage for CFRP strands is developed and the CFRP strand anchors are tested in China. Based on pullout tests of 48 specimens, interfacial bond strength between CFRP strand anchors and different bonding agents was systematically studied. The results show that CFRP strand anchors have higher interfacial bond strength. The diameters of CFRP strand anchors have a little influ- ence upon bond strength. Bond stress reaches maximum when the slippage of CFRP strand anchors ranges between 0.3-0.4 mm, and for steel strand anchors, the slippage is about 20 mm. The conclusions can provide better understanding and references for the application of CFRP strand anchors in ground anchoring engineering.
