The rubberized lightweight aggregate concrete(RLC) was made by using different quantity of recycled rubber powder to replace the sand of shale ceramsite grain concrete. The compressive strength, elastic modulus, failure patterns and microstructure of RLC were investigated.Besides, the influence of rubber powder on the compressive mechanical properties of RLC was discussed. The results show that with increase dosage of rubber powder, the density, compressive strength and elastic modulus of RLC decrease gradually, and the failure patterns exhibit a gradual yielding pattern. It is discovered that rubber powder could entrain a large amount of micro air. There are more pores in the interfacial transition zone of RLC and the status of rubber powder adhered to cement paste is better than that of coarse aggregate.
