Abstract:Crushed and screened waste glass could be used as a portion of aggregate in asphalt paving mixes, the term "glassphalt" has been used to describe the pavement. The practice has not only contributed to make use of waste materials and protect environment, but also to improve surface behavior of asphalt pavement. The key to use glassphalt lies in the fact that potential stripping problem can be reduced by improving adhesion between glass and asphalt,so that laboratory tests are designed to evaluate properties of adhesion and resistance to moisture stripping, and Marshall stability and resistance to rutting and skidding of mixes with glass.Based on the test results, effective means to reduce moisture stripping and to improve adhesion are recommend where high viscosity modified asphalt as binder or addition of cement as an antistripping agent would be used. The test results also show that apparent density,Marshall stability, resistance to rutting and skidding of samples containing waste glass are slightly lower than those without waste glass. The higher the content of waste glass is,the stronger the light reflection is.
