Abstract:Based on the fast freeze-thaw test, the alkaline resistance test, the water immersion test, the wet-thermal exposure test and artificial accelerated aging test, the influence of the corroding environment on the mechanical behavior of fiber reinforced polymer(FRP) laminates and adhesive was studied. The test results indicate that carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) specimens subjected to aggressive environments shows good durability with no significant degradation in tensile strength and modulus, however, glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP) specimens exhibited a little decrease in mechanical property after aggressive environments exposure. The adhesive specimens shows some degree of deterioration in appearance and mechanical characteristics after artificial aging test.
