Static experiments on the erosion of silicon carbide and silica brick refractories by slag glass melt were performed. The crystalline composition and microstructure of these refractories before and after being eroded were investigated by XRD and SEM; and the erosion mechanism of slag glass to these refractories was discussed. The experimental results show that the erosion of refractories by slag glass melt is a complex physical chemistry process. These refractories are attacked both physically and chemically by glass melt.
