Abstract:The paper presents the development of fiber reinforced polymer(FRP) confined concrete combined materials and reveals the working mechanism of FRP confined concrete. The combined components have advantages of both FRP and concrete. They can meet the needs of structure engineering for strength, toughness, durability, ductility, corrosion resistance and overall costs. The calculation of its basic mechanical properties shows that the compressive strength and ductility of FRP confined concrete increase dramatically and the cracking upon tension is delayed. The combined components of beams and columns designed properly have optimum aseismatic performance.
