Abstract:In this paper, the performances of two kinds of semi rigid base coarse materials, cement bound gravel material (CBGM) and lime fly ash concrete, applied for high class highways were tested and studied, including the strength characteristics of compression, bending and splitting, elastic dynamic and static modulus of both compression and bending. The performances of dry shrinkage and temperature shrinkage were also tested. It can be concluded from the results that there is much great difference among the three kinds of strength parameters. The dynamic and static moduli are also very different to each other. So that, which of the base material parameters to be applied in practice should be determined by the base stress conditions.
