The performances of polymer cement concrete used in highway were studied by ultrasonic pulses and infra red spectrum (IR). Two kinds of styrene butadiene rubber latex (SBR) were used and their action during the hydration and hardening of cement was investigated. The study results showed that the ultrasonic pulses speed increases with the age of hydrating and hardening of cement. The mechanical behavior of polymer in polymer cement system was analysed according to the test results of IR spectra and chemically combined water.
