Two methods for the preparation of carbon nitride photocatalytic concrete were introduced. One method was that dicyandiamide powder was put on the surface of prepared concrete, and then high temperature calcination was conducted to produce carbon nitride photocatalytic concrete. The other method was directly applying carbon nitride suspension on the surface of primary concrete and wait for concrete consolidation. Through the test of NO degradation under the irradiation of visible light, the photocatalytic removal efficiency by the photocatalytic concrete prepared by the first method is relatively low compared to the second method, and this method is not suitable for large scale engineering due to complicated preparation process. The photocatalytic concrete prepared by the second method is effective for NO degradation, 6099% NO could be eliminated by the prepared photocatalytic concrete. Besides, the compressive strength and durability of photocatalytic concretes were tested. The results demonstrate that no decrease of the compressive strength and smaller decrease of NO degradation efficiency of photocatalytic concretes prepared by the second method indicating acceptable mechanical property and excellent durability.
