Effect of Construction Temperature on Properties of Cold RecyclingMixture with Foamed Bitumen

Abstract:
By simulating different construction temperature and a large number of tests, the effect of construction temperature on properties of cold recycling mixture with foamed bitumen was investigated and the measures to improve the properties of the mixture under low temperature were proposed. The results show that the suitable construction temperature of the mixture should be no less than 20℃. When molded in lower temperature(1015℃), asphalt of better foaming effects is recommended with the compaction work to be enhanced. In lab test, when compacting times is increased to 105, the performance of mixture is equivalent to the mixture molded by standard method at normal temperature. It is suggested that the temperature at which specimens are molded in lab mix design be consistent with on site construction temperature. When the temperature of construction is low, it is suggested that the degree of compaction should observe the compaction standards by increasing the compactor pass or increasing the tonnage of the compactor rollers.
